Tom Lee
Tom Lee is an energetic and passionate designer who has experience in designing furniture and lighting. He was educated in the field of architecture and product design, and he is deeply interested in mid-century modern classics by visionaries such as Ray and Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Being born and raised in Hong Kong, and also lived extensively in California, USA, his design showcases an original understanding and interpretation of Chinese and Western aesthetics. He is fascinated by the beauty and intricate texture of finely finished hardwood. To him, hardwood – a renewable resource unlike plastic derived from oil, is the perfect choice for premium furniture that is designed and built to last.
Since working with B&Y, Tom is deeply involved in designing furniture pieces for the brand 22 árboles, such as the Modus Shelf and Perch Side Table. He works closely with veteran craftsmen to ensure the hardwood pieces are rich in function and pleasing to the eyes and hands.
